Bahrain, Saudi Arabia approve plan for oil pipeline

Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have approved plans to lay a 350,000 bbl/d oil pipeline between the two neighbouring countries, Reuters has reported.

According to the report, the pipeline is expected to be commissioned by the third quarter of 2016 and will replace an ageing 230,000 bbl/d pipeline, helping Bahrain Petroleum Co (Bapco) expand its 267,000 bbl/d Sitra refinery to up to 460,000 bbl/d of capacity.

Reuters stated that Bapco said crude oil is to flow from Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq plant via the 115 km pipeline, 74 km of which will run overland and the rest under the Gulf.
